She’s also a winner of a number of local awards as EU commission’s delegation to Egypt’s competition in 2008, El-Sawy Culture wheel photography award in 2009 and two regional awards: UNICEF MENA photographer of the year 2011 and INDIAFRICA award for the North African sector in 2012. Series of photos that show volunteers from the US presidential campaigns in 2016.

How much does it cost to win a presidential campaign? Estimates by the Center for Responsive Politics reflect that 2016 campaigns have raised hundreds of millions of dollars so far. But what about the human capital? Bernie Sanders campaign, for example, capitalizes on more than 400,000 active volunteers. What makes volunteers put time and effort to support a candidate? What do the identities of these volunteers reflect about each campaign? For the past few months, I have been following a volunteer from each of the following campaigns: Marco Rubio, Bernie Sanders, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, documented their parts of their daily lives and their work on the campaign.

Ramadan Lanterns
By Marwa Morgan
19 Jun 2014

"Despite the economic and the political instability Egypt is going through, craftsmen of Al-Darb Al-Ahmar, one of Cairo’s oldest neighbourhoods, are still struggling to keep their traditional preparations for the holy month of Ramadan. Using Lanterns in Ramadan celebrations is a tradition that goes back to the Fatimid era, when lanterns were made of steel or copper and coloured glass decorated with oriental patterns or calligraphy.
However, mass produced toy-shaped lanterns have been exported from China to fill the Egyptian market over the past decade, putting the traditional lantern industry in danger. The traditional handmade lantern, which takes longer time to produce, costs almost the same price as the exported toy of the same size, but lacks its flashing lights, sounds and moving parts."
