“Golden Baby” Eva Voraberger is going for it: the 26-year-old super flyweight champion of the world is going to fight Esmeralda Moreno of Mexico. Eva is up against a tough boxer: Moreno is currently number three in the world and has more than twice the points Eva does. But for Eva, there is more at stake than her three world championship titles. The winner of the coming fight has a shot at the top: an international match in Las Vegas against the number one in the world.

The documentary “Goldrausch” (“Winning and Losing”) is an intimate portrait of the Austrian boxer Eva Voraberger, showing the intense preparations for this all-or-nothing fight. Adding to the physical demands of training comes an emotional blow as she learns that her boyfriend has cancer. But in the same way he has her back in the ring, she has his in the fight against his disease.

Dying Chinese Opera in Thailand
Ayutthaya
By Ana Salvá
23 Mar 2016

Chinese opera in Thailand is a dying art. Opera companies performed for years in theaters, but the tradition is now under threat because of changing cultural habits and demographics. Nowadays these companies travel from village to village, bringing the tradition as a way to honor ancestors rather than to entertain the masses. Local Chinese temples raise the money to pay expenses.

Chinese opera became popular when Chinese migrated to Thailand in large numbers two hundred years ago. About 14 percent of Thailand’s population is ethnic Chinese. As older ethnic Chinese pass away, younger generations who have assimilated into Thai culture do not really continue the tradition. Further, just a small number of Thais of Chinese descent understand the dialect used by these opera singers.

By Jonathan Alpeyrie

Michel Madie, a 57 year old native of Algeria who grew up in Corsica, and well known realtor in New York city, has lived in the City since the mid 80's. After being introduced to the Polyamory communities in New York, Michel has become one of the front-man of this expanding trend, by hosting open sexuality parties inside his property while participating at other parties. Polyamory which derives from the Greek word "poly" which means many, and the Latin word "amor", which means love, is a practice of, and desire for intimate relationship involving more than two people with the knowledge and consent of everyone involved. Trust and openess is crucial if one desires to integrate and remain within these Poly communities. Left: Marine worms called "Nyale" come to certain beaches of southern Lombok to spawn once a year. The legend says that after Princess Mandalika jumped from the cliffs to save the island from war, her people searched the tidal flats below but only found nyale marine worms, which they believed were the magical infestation of her beautiful hair. Right: Ice is sold at the largest fish market on the island of Lombok to keep the fish fresh and able to transport across the island.
