Tunisian police and military forces patrol the border town of Ben Guerdane on March 8, 2016, one day after ISIS militants launched an attack on military barracks in the town. 28 militants were killed in the clashes that also left ten members of Tunisian security forces and seven civilians dead.
Tunisian security forces arrested 17 militants, reportedly connected to ISIS.
Later on Tuesday March 8th, the Tunisian Prime Minister said that the death toll had risen to 55, as security forces once again clashed with militants, killing six.

According to official sources in Tunisia's Defense Ministry, five gunmen, reportedly ISIS militants, arrived in the Tunisian coastal town of Ben Guerdane, near the Libyan border, in a 4x4.
When Tunisian forces discovered them, they hid in a house inside the town. All five were killed in the raid that ensued, and one civilian was also shot while passing near the scene of the clashes between Tunisian forces and the militants. Two Tunisian army officers were slightly injured.
According to Tunisian officials, the militants were originally from Ben Guerdane.

This documentary film by International Pixel Productions tells the story of Tunisian jihadists who left to Syria to fight alongside ISIS.

Jasper, a 24 year-old schoolteacher from Sweden describes his reasons for leaving his home and joining the fight against ISIS alongside the YPG in Syrian Kurdistan.
Going by his adoptive Kurdish name Agit, the young man has joined a battalion the YPG with two American fighters and one English fighter, all experienced military men, who give him special training to go head to head with ISIS in combat.
"I'm not afraid of them," he says. "They will pay for their crimes. I will fight to the last drop."

A 45-year-old French fighter who introduced himself as ‘Roj William’ is fighting alongside the Syrian Kurdish militia known as the YPG.
The single man from Paris says that he joined these forces three months ago because so many French fighters are fighting with ‘Daesh’, citing the Arabic acronym for ISIS. “I don’t think it’s representative of who we are as French people,” the French fighter added.

Following the fall of Mosul, Iraq to ISIL, several thousand residences fled to nearby Kurdistan. A year later, they have rallied together and have formed a militia with the intention of retaking their city.
From a training camp just outside of the ISIS held city, we speak to the general in charge as well as the troops on why they are there and how they view the upcoming Siege of Mosul.
