Thousands gathered on and around the 6th of October Bridge near the state TV building Maspero as protesters battled police, blocking off roads, burning tires, throwing rocks and firebombs.

Protesters also blocked Qasr al-Aini street into Tahrir, throwing rocks at police. The police stayed a good distance away, sitting in chairs letting them throw rocks and occasionally firing teargas from this direction while the main fighting went on the street perpendicular to it.

Protesters burn a traffic barrier and other rubbish while fighting with police outside Tahrir Square on Qasr al-Aini street. The age range was anywhere from young children around 8 years old and up, and was treated more like a game to most there as they were laughing and street vendors were selling food to spectators.

A protester who is part of the Ahly Ultras, football supporters of the team Ahly and arguably the main physical force behind most of the clashes, holds up a teargas canister made in the U.S. The young man was fighting with police just outside Tahrir Square on Qasr al-Aini street.

Protesters throw rocks at police just outside of Tahrir on Qasr al-Aini street, a familiar seen over the past two years, but one that many in Egypt are growing tired of and say that it's more of a game for the youth, with no aim or goal in sight.

A group of young men take shelter behind a make-shift shelter of scrap metal while exchanging volleys of rocks with the police. For most of the youth taking part in the clashes, it's more of a game, as they jump out to throw a firebomb or rock many are laughing and enjoying the chaos.

Protesters near Tahrir Square throw rocks at police on the other side of the wall on Qasr al-Aini street, separating the Interior Ministry. Police responded by throwing rocks back and firing tear gas to disperse the crowds.
