Protesters tried to invade the Mayor's Palace and set fire to a vehicle belonging to the press. Clashes erupted between police officers and rioters as they broke into banks and shops, as officers arrested at least eight people for theft. A wave of protests took over Sao Paulo in early June, as thousands of residents peacefully marched against an increase in the price of a single bus fare. Police officers were accused of firing bullets and tear gas at protesters and assaulting some participants and bystanders. The attacks that emerged angered the residents and shifted their focus from rising transport costs to wider issues. Sao Paulo, June, 2013.

Thousands of protesters took over the streets of Sao Paulo throughout the past week, against the rise in public transportation costs and expenses paid by the Brazilian government to host the Confederations Cup and World Cup in 2014. The wave of protests grew. There were clashes with police, invasion of public buildings, many hospitalized and arrested. Now the protests are calmer and the government is responding with a series of important changes required by Social Movements and protestants.

Kenyan MPs have voted to allow a pay increase for themselves in defiance of proposals to cut their pay. Kenyan MP's are already one of the higest paid in the world.The MP's voted for a monthly salary of about $10,000 (£6,540).

Shiite Muslims in Pakistan have once against staged sit-in protest across the country in solidarity with martyrs of Quetta, February 18, 2013, Photo by Yasir Kazmi, Karachi, Pakistan.

The protests in Quetta have refused to bury the bodies of 87 martyrs up to the fulfillment of demands.
In Karachi the protests have staged sit-in protest in Malir-15, Numaish Chowrangi, Five Star Chowrangi, Abbas Town, Incholi and Gulistan e Johar areas of the City.

Clashes occurred between riot police and protestors as a government crackdown on the anti-regime demonstrations was put into effect in several villages throughout the country, including Abu-Saibah. Riot police fired tear gas and according to a human rights group in Bahrain, more than 100 people have been injured so far. The Bahraini uprising began in mid-February 2011. This comes in front of the planned countrywide anti-regime protest on August 14, organized by Bahrain's "Tamorrod" movement. Abu Saiba, Bahrain, July 21, 2013.

Sunday, May 15th, 2011: Around 700 Palestinians commemorated today the 63rd Nakba, or Tragedy, at the Qalandiya checkpoint between Ramallah and Jerusalem. An estimated 1,500 Israeli soldiers launched tear gas and fired rubber bullets and sound bombs at the demonstrators who burned tires, slung stones and chanted for unity, revolution and the right of return. An estimated 150 people were treated for tear gas-related injuries including head blows, 15 for rubber bullet wounds, 9 were arrested by undercover Israeli agents, and one male protester died.
