Kalimandir was founded by an Italian Baba known by the name of Yogi Krishnanath. This Baba, whose real name is Alessandro Pace, lived twenty years of his life on Indian mountains, places in which he came for the first time in August 1969 starting from Rome by hitch hiking. He came (forced) back to Rome and decided to build a Hindu temple on a field belonging to his family. The Temple is dedicated to Goddess Shiva and Khali and it is administrated by Krishnanath and his partner. They surf the Web and use Social Networks to "improve interfaith dialogue and to communicate with people about the activitiies of Kalimandir.

Baba Cesare visiting Kalimandir and Gori Nath. The Temple is dedicated to Goddess Shiva and Khali and it is administrated by Krishnanath and his partner, Gori Nath. She is Italian also. Her real name is Giuseppina, and she’s 65 years old, she is retired teacher.

What is smoked in the conical clay pipes is a varied mixture of ganja (marijuana flower and leaf), charas (a form of hashish handmade in India from the cannabis plant, which grows wild in the Himalayas) and tobacco. Smoking chillum is common among the sadhus.

Cesare was born in Sicily, Italy.
He lived 25 years in a cave, His cave in Hampi (India) was high up in the hills, with a garish painting of Shiva adorning the rocky entrance. He is actually the oldest italian sadhu livig in India.
